Breaking down the language
German is a highly structured and inflected language: the forms of words change according to how they relate to each other in a sentence, and sentence structure follows strict rules.
If this sounds daunting, there is a bright side: the rules mean that you have something to hold on to. Languages that have fewer rules can paradoxically be harder to learn.
With Alexander you will be able to break the language down systematically - and at the right pace for you.
Absorbing the language
However, the lessons go beyond the rules to give you intensive exposure to authentic German. At the beginning, this means absorbing and deploying essential everyday language and structures before moving on to material covering a wide range of topics and genres. At the intermediate level and above, you will be able to tackle some of the most beautiful, complex, and influential German ever written. The aim is not merely to make increasingly complex language intelligible to you, but to help you absorb it and use it, so that you speak not just accurately and precisely, but also elegantly, and with an ever-greater command of the complexities of the language.
So you will understand not only the logic, but also the rhythm of the language.
